And you know we take the most long twos out of any team? Blame that on cliff. Kemba actually shoots worse than his teammates and helps contribute to our poor offense. I hope he does because Charlotte is a great city and I like the makeup of their roster this upcoming season. Maybe this season he’ll take the next step. With the addition of Batum, an excellent facilitator and shooter when he’s engaged/healthy, this should hopefully be a big help for Kemba. I realize he’s been on ridiculously weak teams in the past, and it doesn’t help that he hasn’t really had a great secondary perimeter scorer or facilitator to take some pressure off of him, so it might explain his horrendous shooting and inefficiency. Maybe this is who Kemba is destined to be, but it just seems like he’s underachieved and isn’t as good as some people’s perceptions of him. He also seems like a pretty good guy/teammate from what I’ve seen and heard. Also, he has excellent ball control and never seems to turn the ball over too many times like a lot of other point guards do – an underrated feature about Kemba. He’s quick, has extremely good handles, seems to have a multitude of moves (extremely clean stepback) that can create space for him (even though he doesn’t hit the shots), and also he’s been pretty clutch in several games. I remember reading somewhere that Kemba has led the league or been at the top of the league for the past few seasons in terms of total passes, which is weird since he averages such a mediocre number of assists for a point guard. he’s been averaging around 17 points a game for the past few seasons, but it’s not like he’s a great passer to make up for that (only 5-6 assists a game for his career). ![]() Even though Kemba Walker is inefficient from the field, it’s not like he’s attacking the rim a lot to make up for it, even though he’s a solid free throw shooter. There’s many possessions where he seems to be completely lost on rotations and he leaves many shots uncontested as well. Furthermore, he’s not a good defender by any stretch of the definition. Even for a volume shooter/point guard that’s pretty low. He averages 4.5 attempts a game and only converts between 30-32% for his whole career. Last season he shot 38.5% from the field, and it’s not like he’s a great 3-point shooter either. I’m not going to go too in depth with any advanced stats because I’m not a huge advanced stats guy, but he has a career field goal percentage of 39.5%. Everyone seems to shit on Rubio's shooting, which is 100% warranted because he's a horrible shooter as well, but it's not like Kemba is leagues above him. Judging from an eye test, he seems to be able to create his shots and get to his spots relatively easy, but he just cannot hit the shots. I've been wondering this for the past few seasons, and now with the recent signing of Jeremy Lin to Charlotte, which is a solid signing (albeit for a backup spot), I’ve started to wonder just how good Kemba really is and if he’s slightly overrated or not.
